Intermittent wide vertical stripe or missing video blocks on LCD screen - ThinkPad T400s, T410s, T410si


Symptom

User may experience intermittent or missing video from top to bottom – typically in the left third of the LCD panel. This problem may also be reported as vertical lines on the screen in the same area, and may be temporarily resolved by pressing lightly on the LCD bezel near the wireless icon LED.
Affected configurations

Any of the following ThinkPad systems.

•T400s (Machine Type (MT): 2801, 2808, 2809, 2815, 2823, 2824, and 2825)
•T410s , T410si (Machine Type (MT): 2901, 2904, 2907, 2912, 2924, 2926, and 2928)

Solution
The system must be repaired by a Lenovo Authorized Warranty Service Provider, subject to existing warranty terms and conditions. Contact your normal service provider. Click here to find a Service Provider or click here to locate Worldwide Support Center phone list.

This issue has been resolved for T410s units in production now (and for a number of months).

I would be interested in the model type and serial number of example units that you have with these symptoms - please send me a PM.  I'd like to look into when they were built.
